The vaguely green-fingered thoughts of a rambling rose.

July Jollies

Visit gardens for inspiration.  There are of course those listed in the NGS Yellow Book, however I tend to use the Open Gardens website where often whole villages throw open their gates to visitors, offering plants and a slice of cake for very small renumeration to some great causes. It's a wonderful way to see our country.

Invest in a good timer and drip hose to ensure plants are cared for whilst on holiday - or find a trusted neighbour, family member or friend to water regularly during your absence.  It can be devastating to return from your break to find plants beyond hope due to an unreliable watering plan.

Take a walk around the garden with a notebook, taking stock if what has worked well...or not, and whether any tweaks need to be applied for next year.
