The vaguely green-fingered thoughts of a rambling rose.

Prunus serrula

Tibetan cherry

With spectacular mahogany coloured bark this native tree from China peels as it grows in a similar way to birches.  It features inconspicuous clusters of white flowers in late spring and the mid green foliage turns yellow in the autumn. This was planted in autumn 2018.

As with other cherries, prune in summer to avoid silver leaf.

Best in a position to catch late sun, particularly in the winter as the bark appears to glow.
