The vaguely green-fingered thoughts of a rambling rose.

March Manoeuvres

Manoeuvres to manage in March.

Leave foliage on bulbs, but deadhead to ensure energy goes back into the bulb for next year's flowers.

Complete rose pruning.

Weed.  Removing as many weed seedlings as possible now helps prevent them flowering, setting seed and creating bigger problems later in the season when herbaceous perennials fill out - remember one year's seeding means seven years weeding!

Avoid cutting away any frost damaged plants...up here, winter can have a few frosts left in her!

Keep an eye out for slugs and use your chosen method of dispatch.

Cut back the old foliage at the back of the pond.
