The vaguely green-fingered thoughts of a rambling rose.

Rose on a Ramble

It's been a while since I've done one of these posts. We spent a lovely day with our friends, wandered around the garden and just generally chilled out watching the birds.

You would never know this little piece of tranquillity was hidden behind a cottage, slap bang between two railway lines!

Nor would you know that it is at risk of being torn apart by the planned HS2 whose planners and the government are quite happy spending millions of pounds and to completely destroy this oasis for nature to shave 20 minutes off commuters' journey time!!!

The Wisteria is magnificent, despite a bit of a setback earlier in the year when one of the arches had to be replaced.

There are so many different varieties of Aquilegia here.

This cheeky little chap gazes across the garden, stream and pond keeping a watchful eye over the newts, waterboatmen, fish, hedgehogs, foxes, a tiny wee mouse and pretty much every variety of bird in this part of England who call this beautiful garden home.

Long may they remain.

  1. Awwwww, our garden does look lovely doesn't it. It's funny how other people's photos make me look twice at things here. Here's hoping that HS 2 gets quashed.
